I’ve never appreciated spring as much as I do now.

I’ve been so grateful for my walks in Riverside Park as a way to take a break from thinking about current events. For the past few weeks and months, my walks have been cold and a bit dreary, which haven’t exactly helped my mood. But this weekend, spring seems to have finally arrived in New York City.

Perhaps it’s because it’s reassuring that the seasons are, at least, on course because so many things seem to be spinning out of control. Robins and daffodils are encouraging indicators that there is still some predictability in our lives.

However, then the worry meter in my brain clicks on to remind me that environmental regulations are being relaxed and climate controls eroded. Then my sheer delight in the wonders of spring starts to fade.

Happy Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22nd! Let’s all do whatever we can to try to protect nature and the environment–especially now. There has never been a more critical time.

I’m Amy

I live in Manhattan and get much of my exercise dodging vehicles and bicycles on the Upper West Side. That aside, I think New York City, with its incredible diversity of people and cultural offerings, is the best place on the planet to age happily.
